YMCA Seeks Assistant Teachers

The Kennett Area YMCA is hiring assistant teachers for its Before and After School Enrichment (BASE) programs for the 2026-27 school year, with positions available at seven elementary schools across the Kennett Consolidated and Unionville-Chadds Ford school districts. Positions are part-time with flexible weekday schedules from 7 to 9 a.m. and 3 to 6 p.m.

The BASE programs aim to provide children with a safe and supportive place to learn, explore, and build social connections outside of the school day. Programs are offered at Bancroft, Greenwood, and New Garden elementary schools in the Kennett Consolidated School District and Chadds Ford, Hillendale, Pocopson, and Unionville elementary schools in the Unionville-Chadds Ford School District.

Assistant teachers employed by YGBW receive a range of benefits and perks, including a free YMCA family membership, program discounts, retirement contributions, and paid training and professional development opportunities.

The YMCA of Greater Brandywine was recently recognized as a Top Workplace for the third consecutive year, reflecting the organization's commitment to creating a positive workplace for employees while strengthening the communities it serves.

Assistant teachers help lead enrichment activities, support students, and work to create a welcoming environment. The role is particularly suitable for college students, aspiring educators, retirees, and others who enjoy working with elementary-age children and are seeking flexible, community-focused employment.
