Conestoga United Methodist Church (UMC), 71 Sandhill Road, Conestoga, will host a community Veterans Day service on Sunday, Nov. 8. The program will begin at 2 p.m.

Three local veterans - the Rev. Dave Ryan, Jill Kelley, and Rick Brown - will speak about their military service, and veteran Mike Helwig will offer a prayer. Boy Scouts from Troop 146 will serve as flag bearers.

The event will feature special music by trumpeter Jere Breseisen, and Anne Helwig will be the guest organist for the service. Joe Campbell will offer patriotic music and a presentation about the Building Bridges Foundation, of which he is the director of operations. A patriotic script and the ringing of a bell in celebration of the United States' 250th anniversary will round out the program.

An offering will be received for the Building Bridges Foundation and the Wounded Warrior Project at the Millersville Veterans of Foreign Wars. A social gathering will be held in the fellowship hall following the service.

Conestoga UMC has also announced that it will be an official drop-off site for the Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots program on Saturday, Nov. 14. The theme at this site will be "Fill the Sleigh." Unwrapped toys will be accepted at the church parking lot from 10 a.m. to noon. This is a one-day event only.
