Christiana Fire Company is hoping that the community puts the pieces together to support the all-volunteer station.

On Saturday, Nov. 14, the company will hold its first ever LEGO bingo event, a spin-off of previous themed bingos, most recently a YETI bingo. Held at the station, 214 S. Bridge St., Christiana, the doors will open at 4:30 p.m., and games will start promptly at 6:30 p.m.

"We're trying a different thing," said Kim Moore, an organizer of the event, along with her daughter, Chelsey. "Trying to get a different crowd."

Chelsey and her fiance, Jonathan, are LEGO lovers. Chelsey said they got the idea from attending a similar event at a fire company out of the area.

"It's how I decorate my house," she said. "We went to that bingo from another company like two hours away, and it was packed solid. I don't know what kind of profit they yielded, but we thought it was just something different. It involves kids and adults, so we're going to try it, see how it goes."

The main attraction will be the LEGO Titanic set. Released in 2021, the behemoth set features more than 9,000 pieces and is over 4 feet long when fully constructed. It is the largest set that LEGO has ever released, and it retails at $679.99.

"The Titanic is a lot of people's holy grail of LEGOs," Chelsey said. "My fiance and I bought one when we were in Disney. ... It took him over two or three weeks to build it."

Also featured in the bingo will be LEGO sets representing "Star Wars," SpongeBob, Mario, "One Piece," "Wicked," Disney, Spiderman, Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi, Pokemon and countless more.

There is a price to purchase tickets for the event, which can be done by visiting https://square.link/u/fQbtgn9G. The price of a starting pack includes one door prize ticket and one pack of six cards for 20 regular bingo games; additional cards will be available for regular bingo, specials and blackout at the door for an additional cost.

Prepurchase of starter packs is encouraged, as a limited number of seats are available. All seats at the venue are reserved for participants. Food and nonalcoholic beverages will be available for purchase, including hot roast beef sandwiches, burgers, fries and other finger foods.

Ticket pickup is exclusively at the event; prepickup is not available. Anybody can play in the bingo, but an adult must call bingo to win a prize.

All funds raised will support the fire company.

"They're guaranteed at least that every game is way over $40, which is (more) than what their ticket to get in is," Kim said. "We do have some repairs that we need to do. We need a new floor in our kitchen, and we do need to complete that by next year to be licensed."

The company serves the communities of Christiana Borough, Sadsbury Township and Atglen Borough. It also provides support to neighboring companies and communities. Last year, the company responded to 207 incidents. Through September of this year, it has responded to 187 incidents.
