Art Plus Gallery, 604 Penn Ave., West Reading, will present an artist talk by Morgantown artist Kelsey Showalter on Sunday, March 27, at 2 p.m. There will also be refreshments and an opportunity to win prizes.

When artist Mary Burke had to move her featured exhibit slated for March to September at the last minute, Showalter, one of Art Plus Gallery's newest members, was able to fill in. Showalter joined Art Plus in November with an inventory of paintings in two categories - animals and landscapes.

In her first show at Art Plus, Showalter tied the gallery record for selling a painting in the first three days of her membership. Her artwork has sold steadily ever since.

Showalter uses a uniquely organic, multimedia technique she developed in 2018 by combining the grittiness of charcoal and the powerful colors of acrylics in the same painting. It took her abount three years to feel that she had mastered the technique.
