Manheim Township Plans Homecoming

On Friday, Oct. 8, Manheim Township High School (MTHS) will hold its annual homecoming celebration. The 2021 homecoming queen will be crowned during halftime of the varsity football game against Penn Manor High School, which will begin at 7 p.m. at the MTHS stadium, 115 Blue Streak Boulevard, Lancaster. The homecoming dance will be held on Saturday, Oct. 9.

The queen will be crowned by the 2020 queen, Macy Mosner. The nine 2021 homecoming queen candidates are Kristen Bennett, Noa Blumenthal, Megan Hampshire, Brynn Magrini, Avery Palandjian, Katherine Pan, Savanna Petersheim, Maddie Wells, and SophiaeYost.

Kristen Bennett is the daughter of Scott and Mary Bennett of Lititz. At school, she is president of Manheim Township Performing Arts (MTPA), a committee head for Mini-THON, a liaison for Tri-M Music Honor Society, and a member of National Honor Society (NHS). She sings in the concert choir and Bella Voce Music Ensemble, and she takes part in fall plays and spring musicals. Outside school, she is involved in community theater. Following graduation, she plans to study biomedical engineering. She will be escorted to the game by her father.

Noa Blumenthal is the daughter of Stuart Blumenthal and Dr. Donna Cohen of Lancaster. At school, she is co-founder and communications chair of Township Together, treasurer of the Women in Leadership Club, a Link Crew leader, and a member of NHS, and MTPA. She is co-captain of the Manheim Township girls' soccer team and a four-year varsity player. Outside school, she is national special projects lead of the MyVote Project, president of Shaarai Shomayim Temple Youth Group, a member of the PA Classics Soccer Club, and a coach for the Manheim Township Little Kickers program. Following graduation, she plans to attend college to major in science and minor in Spanish. She will be escorted to the game by her father.

Megan Hampshire is the daughter of Jonathan and Jennifer Hampshire of Lancaster. At school, she is a member of NHS and a Link Crew leader. She is also a member of Key Club and involved with Mini-THON. She is a former member of Student Council and an honor roll student. Outside school, she volunteers at Messiah Lutheran Church, and she is a member of the Skyline Swim Team. Following graduation, she plans to attend college to major in biology. She will be escorted to the game by her father.

Brynn Magrini is the daughter of Glenn and Tricia Magrini of Lancaster. At school, she is leader of the Blue Streak Connections and social media lead for the Manheim Township Coalition for Social Justice. She is a member of NHS and a Link Crew leader. She is a four-year member of the varsity swim team. Outside school, she is a Girls on the Run junior coach, a Special Olympics swim coach, and a member of the Five Star Swim Club. Following graduation, she plans to attend the University of Pittsburgh School of Nursing with the goal of becoming a nurse practitioner or nurse anesthetist. She will be escorted to the game by her father.

Avery Palandjian is the daughter of Dr. Pierre Palandjian and Dr. Claudia Palandjian of Lititz. At school, she is a Student Council representative, a Link Crew leader, and a member of NHS, Key Club, and Mini-THON. She is co-captain of the varsity tennis team. Outside school, she is a COVID-19 Hope Squad volunteer and a member of the Tennis Central Leadership Team. Following graduation, she plans to attend Gettysburg College to major in biology on a pre-med track and play tennis. She will be escorted to the game by her father.

Katherine Pan is the daughter of Xun and Yihsing Pan of Lititz. At school, she is secretary of the Class of 2022, secretary of Student Council, a member of NHS, and a Link Crew leader. She is a member of Key Club and Mini-THON. She is co-captain of the girls' tennis team, and she has been selected as manager of the boys' spring tennis team. Outside school, she is a volunteer with the Lancaster International Piano Festival, translating English to Chinese and acting as stage manager for classical pianists. Following graduation, she plans to attend college to major in psychology and minor in education. She will be escorted to the game by her father.

Savanna Petersheim is the daughter of Rick Petersheim of Lititz and Richelle Brubaker of Lancaster. Following graduation, she may attend college to major in marketing. She will be escorted to the game by her father.

Madeline Wells is the daughter of Steve Wells of Lancaster and Kristy Wells of Lancaster. At school, she is chair of Mini-THON, vice president of Interact Club, and manager of the boys' soccer team. Following graduation, she plans to attend college to major in communications. She will be escorted to the game by Eric Laubach.

Sophie Yost is the daughter of Andrew and Michelle Yost of Lititz. At school, she is president of the Women in Leadership Club, founder of Manheim Township's Coalition for Social Justice, an Attollo Scholar, and a member of NHS and MTPA. She serves as student representative on the Manheim Township School District Diversity Equity and Inclusion Board and the Superintendent's Student Advisory Board. She is an IB diploma candidate and Spanish Immersion student. She serves as co-captain of the girls' tennis team. Outside school, Sophie is a national field director and founder of the PA Chapter of the MyVote Project, and she has volunteered for local political campaigns. Following graduation, she plans to attend college to major in public policy and minor in Spanish and history. She will be escorted to the game by her father.
