Field Trips Highlight Science and the Arts

Montessori Academy of Lancaster kindergarten and elementary students recently took part in field trips intended to bring learning to life through science exploration and artistic expression.

Elementary students traveled to the Academy of Natural Sciences of Drexel University in Philadelphia, where they explored interactive exhibits, discovered wildlife, and viewed towering dinosaur skeletons. Through hands-on, inquiry-based experiences, students deepened their understanding of ecosystems, biodiversity, and the natural world. The exhibits and immersive displays aligned closely with the students' classroom science learning.

In addition, kindergarten and elementary students attended a performance of "Doodle POP" at the Ware Center in Lancaster. Part of the Family Fun Fest series, "Doodle POP" told the story of an underwater adventure through whiteboard illustrations, interactive animation, and music. The nonverbal performance created an inclusive experience.

The field trips reflect the school's commitment to experiential learning, offering students opportunities to engage beyond the classroom. In this way, the school seeks to help students develop critical thinking skills, creativity, collaboration, and a deeper appreciation for diverse forms of learning.
