The Friends of the Moores Memorial Library will host two special events during the month of August.

 A huge "last chance" sale on media will take place in the Read Moore Bookstore during the entire month of August to make room for new donations. All DVDs, CDs and BluRay disks are on sale at clearance prices.

The all-volunteer run book store is open weekdays from 1 to 4 p.m., on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to noon and other times by request.

Once again this year, the Friends will participate in the Christiana Community Yard Sale Day on Saturday, Aug. 23. The sale will begin at 8 a.m., and items will be for sale both in the book store and outside. Books will also be on sale that day. In addition, Randy Yoder's chicken barbecue will be available beginning at 10 a.m.

Those who would like to donate items for the sale should drop them off in the book store no later than Thursday, Aug. 21. All proceeds will go directly to the library to fund its popular programs.

The Friends of the Library meets on the second Thursday of each month at 2 p.m. in the library, 9 W. Slokom Ave., Christiana. New members are always welcome.
