The first one was so successful that they are running it back.

American Legion Post 34 will hold its second annual Car, Truck, and Motorcycle Show on Saturday, Aug. 22, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the post, 1388 Arcadia Road, Lancaster. The event will be held rain or shine unless the weather is especially poor. There is a fee to enter a vehicle; the show is free for spectators.

There are no restrictions on vehicles that can be shown and no preregistration. After entering through one of two gates, participants should go inside the legion building to receive a windshield placard. More than 30 trophies will be awarded.

Food available will include a special "car show menu" inside the legion. Any beverages purchased inside the legion must be consumed there, and no beverages may be taken inside the building.

Hamburgers and hot dogs will be grilled outside, and there will also be an ice cream vendor.

Proceeds will benefit American Legion Post 34 and its many projects, ranging from relationships with other veterans' organization to other projects, such as scholarships for high school students. Post 34 holds a variety of events each year that are open to the public, such as bingo, breakfasts, and a chili cook-off.

"The (number one goal) is to support veterans," said event organizer Barry Harsh. "It's all about the veterans." Harsh also hopes visitors are entertained. "We want people to have a good day and enjoy the cars," he said. "Car owners love to talk about their cars and hear stories from spectators when they had one."

The first show was held on a Tuesday last year and drew 130 participants, more than Harsh anticipated. That prompted him to hold another one this summer. He said there will be room for between 250 and 300 participants.
