Last year, organizers of the Holiday Craft Show at Zion Lutheran Church, 18 Quarry Road, Leola, canceled the event because of COVID-19 restrictions. This year, the event will be held with a few modifications. "We are having crafts, a bake sale, the cookie walk," said organizer Patty Williams, who noted that up to 20 vendors may be at this year's show.

The 2021 Holiday Craft Show will be held at the church on Saturday, Dec. 4, from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Attendees at the show will be required to wear masks, and hand sanitizer will be located at each vendor station for customer use.

Among the many craft items that will be available for purchase are woodcrafts, holiday crafts, home decor, jewelry, clothing accessories, wall hangings, and moisturizing products.

In April, Steps to Success, which offers preschool and day care services, moved into a wing of the church. "We will have some crafts made by the children at Steps to Success that will be offered for sale," said Williams.

The cookie walk, which has long been a tradition, will be altered so that volunteers collect cookies as directed by the customer. "Customers will choose the cookies, and we will fill the box," said Williams, who noted that the cookie walk will begin at 8:30 a.m. and continue until the cookies are sold out. A cookie decorating area and a special shopping area for children will also be offered.

Vendors and church members will provide donated items for door prizes. Williams noted that door prize winners will be chosen every half hour and that Santa Clauses and snowmen will be among the prizes.

A few food items will be available for purchase at the show on a takeout-only basis. Williams said that vegetable soup and white chicken chili will both be sold.

The 2019 craft show raised about $2,500, which was donated to local organizations such as Lutheran Disaster Relief. Williams said this year Lutheran Disaster Relief has again been chosen to receive the funds.
