YCL announces summer reading program

York County Libraries' (YCL) "Color Our World" SummerQuest program will start on Monday, June 2. Early registration is open at http://www.yorklibraries.org/SummerQuest.

The free program is designed for children and youths from birth to age 18. All participants must have a library card. Individuals may sign up for a free library card at http://www.yorklibraries.org.

The first day to begin working toward badges will be June 2. Participants will track their reading and activities to complete four virtual badges. SummerQuest will include a variety of programs and entertainment, including Mark DeRose Music and Art, Science Heroes: Adventure of the Missing Color, Crime Solvers, Leap Into Science: Magnet Magic, and storybook character Pete the Cat. SummerQuest will run through Sunday, Aug. 17.

In addition to activities for children and youths, YCL will have a summer challenge for people age 19 and older. Tracking sheets for the program will be available at libraries starting on June 2. Throughout the summer, participants may visit each library, get a stamp and a secret color, and solve a bonus trivia word puzzle. For more information, visit http://www.yorklibraries.org/news.
