WordUP Ministries To Present Trunk Or Treat

Building on the success of last year's event, WordUP Community Ministries will again present a Trunk or Treat event on Monday, Oct. 31, at the Gap Fire Company, 802 Pequea Ave., Gap. Dinner will be available beginning at 5 p.m., and then children will be able to visit decorated cars to gather Halloween candy from 6 to 8 p.m.

Children are encouraged to dress in costume and to bring their own bags for collecting candy. Dogs on leashes will also be welcome, and some cars may even have treats for them. "We had 300 kids come through there last year," said WordUP pastor Buck Mowday. "We probably will have about 25 cars (this year). If we run out of space, we will do tables."

Food items will be provided by the D&Bz food truck, which will offer cheeseburgers, hot dogs, french fries, walking tacos and sodas. Only cash will be accepted for food purchases.

In addition to the outdoor Trunk or Treat, children will be able to gather more candy inside the fire company from representatives of local businesses and nonprofit organizations. Businesses and organizations are invited to set up tables and promote their products and services.

Mowday noted that there is no fee for vehicle owners or those who set up tables, but they will be required to supply the candy. People interested in participating and handing out candy may call 717-824-2627 or 717-330-0561 to reserve a spot.
