Women in Tech Awards presented

Seven Women in Technology Award winners were named during the Technology Council of Central Pennsylvania's event on Sept. 25. This year's Women in Technology Awards marked the eighth anniversary of the Technology Council of Central Pennsylvania's continued commitment to celebrating women and their supporters who are innovators, role models, trailblazers and inspirations within the technology community throughout the central Pennsylvania region.

This year's award recipients were selected from a pool of nominees representing the diverse and dynamic landscape of technology in central Pennsylvania.

The 2024 Women in Technology Awards winners are as follows.

Christina Milano-Damaskos was presented with the Next Gen Award, which recognizes an up-and-coming young woman who is making a difference in technology in the region. Milano-Damaskos is the cofounder and CEO of Athlon Inc.

Stephanie Blanda received the Moxie Award, which recognizes a pioneer who has blazed the trail for other women in technology to follow. Blanda is an assistant professor of mathematical sciences for Lebanon Valley College.

Jakyra Simpson received the Diversity and Inclusion Award, which recognizes a woman's active commitment to inclusion and diversity in technology. Simpson is the CEO and founder of STEAM Sneakerheadz.

Deepa Moorthy was presented with the Women in Tech Ally Award, which recognizes an individual, organization or business for outstanding achievements or contributions as an ally to women in technology. Allies are recognized for empowering women in technology through everyday actions to successfully contribute to a more diverse technology industry. Moorthy is a senior salesforce administrator with Warrior Tech Solutions.

Tina Tennant received the Impact Award - Private Sector/Medium to Large Business. This award recognizes a woman in technology whose contributions have made a positive impact in the private sector/medium to large business market, which consists of companies employing 50 or more employees. Tennant is a senior technical business consultant with Capital Blue Cross.

Alyson Boehr received the Impact Award - Private Sector/Entrepreneur to Small Business. This award recognizes a woman in technology whose contributions have had a positive impact in the entrepreneurial/small business sector, consisting of companies employing fewer than 50 employees. Boehr is a formulations associate with Phospholutions Inc.

Jennifer Leinbach received the Impact Award - Public Sector/Government, which recognizes a woman in technology whose contributions have had an impact in that field. Leinbach is the executive director with Ben Franklin Technology Development Authority and Office of Technology Investment.

The 2024 Women in Technology Awards ceremony took place at the West Shore Country Club in Camp Hill. The event was a celebration of innovation, excellence and empowerment within the technology industry, with industry leaders, advocates, and aspiring technology professionals in attendance.

In addition to the seven awards, Women in Tech scholarships were awarded to Aastha Rijal, Franklin & Marshall College, Class of 2026, majoring in computer science and data science; Danielle Strausburger, Elizabethtown College, Class of 2025, majoring in computer science; and Baia Grdzelishvili, York College of Pennsylvania, Class of 2027, majoring in electrical engineering.

All three of this year's scholarships were sponsored by Itero Group.
