What's Happening During Hempfield's Homecoming Week?

Homecoming festivities will return to Hempfield High School (HHS). On Wednesday, Oct. 6, at 6:30 p.m., the junior and senior girls' powderpuff teams will go head-to-head on the football field, and the homecoming king will be crowned during halftime. On Friday, Oct. 8, at 7 p.m., the homecoming football game against Cedar Crest will begin, and the homecoming queen will be announced during halftime. The homecoming dance will occur on Saturday, Oct. 9, at HHS.

The homecoming queen candidates are Camryn Ackerman, Avalynn Baer, Julia Kauffman, Jonna Spangler, and Nadia Walter. The homecoming king candidates are Noah Felty, Jack Kirchner, Anthony McAlpine, and Parker Wolfe.

Camryn Ackerman is the daughter of Courtney and Chris Ackerman of Mountville. At school, Camryn participates in the spring musical, Dance Theatre, senior girls dance, Mini-THON, and powderpuff. She is also a member of Sisterhood and chamber choir. Outside school, Camryn dances at Encore Dance Center. Following graduation, she plans to study music education and eventually become a music teacher.

Avalynn Baer is the daughter of Jennifer Baer of Lancaster and the late Steve Baer. At school, Avalynn participates in powderpuff and is on the girls' basketball team. She has also been involved with the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) and Anchor Club. Outside school, she is a member of the AAU basketball club for Lady Raiders and Team PA. Following graduation, she plans to attend college to study communications and play basketball.

Julia Kauffman is the daughter of Jennifer and Kevin Kauffman of Mountville. At school, Julia is captain of the varsity cheerleading team and participates in powderpuff. Outside school, she is a cheerleader for the LA-Allstars. Following graduation, she plans to attend college to study business.

Jonna Spangler is the daughter of Rose and John Spangler of Landisville. At school, Jonna is a member of the varsity club and is on the girls' lacrosse team. She also participates in MiniTHON and powderpuff. Following graduation, she plans to attend college to study early childhood education.

Nadia Walter is the daughter or Kathleen and Todd Walter of Landisville. At school, Nadia is a member of the National Honor Society (NHS), yearbook, Anchor Club, FCA, and garden club. She also participates in Mini-THON and Dance Theatre. Outside school, Nadia attends youth group. Following graduation, she plans to attend college to study forensic science.

Noah Felty is the son of Jen and David Felty of Centerville. At school, Noah is on the varsity boys' soccer team, serves as treasurer of the Student Council, and participates in the spring musical and Dance Theatre. He also plays guitar. Following graduation, he plans to study environmental science.

Jack Kirchner is the son of Jenifer and Scott Kirchner of Columbia. At school, Jack serves as president of the student council, president of the Spanish Club, and a member of the National Honor Society. He also participates in Mini-THON. Outside school, he volunteers for Edible Classroom. Following graduation, Jack plans to attend college in Washington, D.C., to study international relations or political communications.

Anthony McAlpine is the son of Mandy and Matthew McAlpine of Landisville. At school, Anthony is on the boys' lacrosse team. Outside school, he is a member of a lacross club. Following graduation, he plans to attend college, where he will play lacrosse. hi goal is to become a realtor.

Parker Wolfe is the son of Sarah and David Wolfe of Columbia. At school, Parker is on the boys' basketball team and is a member of the NHS, FCA, Anchor Club, and Varsity Club. Outside school, he attends youth group. Following graduation, he plans to become a real estate agent.
