West Nantmeal To Present Community Day

West Nantmeal Township will present Community Day, featuring games, live music, food, a display of emergency vehicles and more, on Saturday, Sept. 24, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Activities will take place at West Nantmeal Park, 455 N. Manor Road, Elverson.

"This event has been canceled for the past few years due to COVID-19, and we are excited to have it return in 2022," said Deb Kolpak, township secretary/treasurer. "With the exception of food or (to purchase from) vendors, all events are free."

Community Day, which is geared toward families, will include a variety of children's activities, including an inflatable obstacle course, a bounce house, face painting, a carnival area with games and inflatable ax throwing. Also on hand will be Kathy's giant bubbles and Wacky Patti, formerly Pipper the Clown, with her balloons.

"Phil Whitman from Cold Blooded Ideas will bring his live reptiles, and Dawn White from Indian Run Environmental Education Center will present a program on birds of prey," Kolpak noted.

Food items will be offered by Bucktown Grille, Teel's BBQ Pit Stop and Kolb's Farm Store, which will sell ice cream.

There will be helicopter takeoffs and landings, remote-control model airplane demonstrations and family hayrides around the park.

Providing musical entertainment in the pavilion will be the Folkie Dokies and the duo of Jim and Walt.

Community Day is also designed as a way for local residents to learn about local businesses and nonprofit organizations, which will set up booths and distribute information about their services. Honey Brook Community Library and the Henrietta Hankin Branch Library will be among the groups represented, and Rep. Katie Muth's office will have nonpolitical handouts for constituents.

Members of the West Nantmeal Township Historical Commission, the Pennsylvania State Police and the Chester County Department of Emergency Management Services will also have displays.

There will also be an opportunity for visitors to win prizes, and free cake will be served at the end of the day from 2 to 3 p.m. while supplies last.

Community Day will be held rain or shine. There will be on-site parking, with additional parking available at the corner of North Manor and Bollinger roads.
