Waystock To Feature Music, Activities, And More

Wayside Presbyterian Church, 600 Stony Battery Road, Landisville, will host the 10th annual Waystock Community Music & Family Fun Fest on Saturday, June 11, from noon to 5 p.m., hosted by Grace Notes, Wayside's praise band. The music and family fun festival will include performances by five local praise bands and family activities on the church's lawn. Masks are not required.

The outdoor pavilion will be available for picnic-style seating, but lawn chairs and blankets for seating are encouraged. The church grounds also include a playground.

Free family activities will be offered. There will be a Kidz' Korner, including a 53-foot inflatable obstacle course; balloon creations; and West Hempfield emergency responders. The church will offer free food and drinks while supplies last, including snow cones, popcorn, and ice cream. A small silent auction will also be included.

Bands will perform throughout the event from noon until 5 p.m. Performances will be Quarter Bend Guitar Studio at noon; Last Stand at 1 p.m.; Grace Notes, Wayside's house band at 2 p.m.; Blue Sky Falls at 3 p.m.; and Basic Connection at 4 p.m.

The Kidz' Korner, an all afternoon block party and free-play, will begin at 12:30 p.m. and run through the afternoon, led by Wayside's director of children's ministries, Miss Sonja. Attendees will have opportunities to learn more about Wayside's ministry for families. Older youths can get to know the church's youth coordinator, Rachel Holsey, the newest member of the Wayside staff.

Ten years ago, Waystock music coordinator Chris Rowles first envisioned this event, and it has grown consistently through the years. Rowles said, "We're glad to offer a safe, outdoor family activity centered around great music, and we're looking forward to a beautiful day outdoors with our community neighbors of all ages. From the music to great food, fun and games ... it's a family-oriented event that benefits a great cause in the Hempfield Area Food Pantry."

The event is free, but attendees may bring nonperishable canned goods and cash donations. Those who bring five or more items will have a chance to win a gas card.

In the case of inclement weather, the event will take place indoors.

The event is sponsored by Richards Energy, Harmon & Davies Attorneys at Law, High Transit, and Hershey Ice Cream.

For the summer, Wayside will host one Sunday service at 10 a.m. This service will feature a blend of contemporary and traditional music. Starting in September, Wayside will return to its normal schedule, offering two Sunday morning worship choices - a traditional service from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m., followed by fellowship and a contemporary service with Grace Notes from 11 a.m. to noon.
