Ware Center plans First Friday events

The Arts at Millersville University will join Lancaster city's First Friday celebrations with We the People First Friday on June 7 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Ware Center, 42 N. Prince St., Lancaster.

At 6:30 p.m. in Steinman Hall, Speak to My Soul and A Concrete Rose will present the fourth annual "Live From the Red Rose" show. Featuring a blend of dance, spoken word, and music, the show will include performances by local artists Tieshay Cheryl, Kati La Dramati, and Shellyifyanasty, and the poet laureate of Lancaster city, Evita Colon. Local youth musicians Jaymeir and Ceevon Dixon, the Unstoppables Drill Team, and others will open the show.

In the Regitz Gallery from 6 to 8 p.m., a reception will celebrate the opening of "Expanded Visions," a juried photography exhibition that has kicked off the Lancaster Summer Arts Festival since the 1980s. This show celebrates the diverse, creative works of photographers in central Pennsylvania and embraces all aspects of photography, from analog to digital and from representational to abstract. "Expanded Visions" will be on display through Friday, July 26. The Regitz Gallery is open on Mondays through Fridays from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
