Wagontown Chapel Plans Sportsman's Event

Professional hunter Jeff Danker, host of "BuckVentures Outdoors," a television show seen on the Sportsman's Channel, will be the guest speaker at Wagontown Chapel's Sportsman's Event, to be held at the church on Saturday, March 26, beginning at 11:30 a.m. In addition to the presentation, the annual event will include light refreshments and a chance to win hunting-related door prizes. There will also be special door prize drawing for children.

This year, for the first time, tickets will only be sold online at http://www.evenbrite.com by searching for "Wagontown Chapel Sportsman's' Event 2022." No tickets will be sold at the door. "They can print out a ticket (from the website) and they bring that to get in," explained pastor Tim Crans, a resident of Atglen. "When they come to the church, we will give them our ticket, and that is their door prize ticket. We have $15,000 in door prizes that we are giving out."

Door prizes donated by local businesses will include Hoyt bows, Mathews bows, coolers, beverage koozies, wild game calls, gift cards, hats, binoculars and bow and gun cases. Photos of the door prizes can be found at http://www.facebook.com/WagontownChapelSportsmansEvent.

"If they bring three nonperishable food items, they will be entered into a separate drawing to win a muzzleloader," noted Crans. "All of the canned goods will go to City Gate in Coatesville."

On the day of the event, participants will first gather in the church's fellowship hall, where they can enjoy snacks, such as potato chips, brownies and cookies, and enjoy displays by vendors.

The group will then move into the sanctuary for the presentation at about 1 p.m. Crans will begin by talking about the church's Archers in Ministry (AIM) program. "We have an archery 3D shoot that the church does every spring and fall at the Camp at the Old Mill in Honey Brook. That is a shoot where you have animal targets all through woods," he said. "I will also talk about our archery program for kids, (which is) a three-day camp in June where we teach kids the sport of archery; we provide the equipment." For more information about AIM, search for "Archers in Ministry" on Facebook.

Danker, who started BuckVentures in 2003 with the motto "Shoot by Sight, Walk by Faith," will then speak about whitetail deer hunting and related topics. He will also incorporate a message about his faith. "At the end of his (television) show, he brings his Bible out and does a five-minute devotional," said Crans. "We are looking forward to having him here."

The door prizes will be given out following the talk.

Crans added that many people look forward to the gathering each year. "It is an outreach for us and an opportunity to get people together to enjoy fellowship and have a good time," said Crans. "We have an opportunity to share Jesus Christ with people that typically would not come into church."
