Ukraine Classic Car Show, Bazaar Planned

The Americans for Ukraine Classic Car Show & Bazaar, which will also feature live music, dance performances, food, face painting and a chance to win prizes, will take place on Saturday, Sept. 10, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Classic Auto Mall, 6180 Morgantown Road, Morgantown. Proceeds from the first-time event will benefit Ukrainian refugees.

The show is being organized by Johnny Pappas, who also coordinated the Cars for Kacie Car Show at the same location in 2019. "I am a veteran and wanted to do something to help (the people of Ukraine), and I thought, 'I can do a car show.' That's how (the idea) was born," he stated.

The classic car show is open to any car, truck and motorcycle of any year, make or model. A registration fee will be charged to vehicle owners, and registration will be from 8 until 11 a.m. "We expect over 300 cars, trucks and motorcycles competing for three Best of Show custom-made trophies, Top 40 trophies plus 20 specialty trophies," said Pappas.

Pappas, who restores cars as a hobby, noted that the Best Engine trophy is a real working engine that he built. "The Best Interior trophy was made (using) real seats from leftover upholstery material used in restoring my '57 Chevy," he noted. "The Best Paint trophy is an actual professional paint sprayer used in painting cars."

Other specialty trophies will recognize the best Chevy, Ford, Mopar, truck, daily driver, import and modern and classic Corvette, as well as the Promotors' Pick.

Live music will be presented by Elvis tribute artist Jeff Krick Jr., who will be accompanied by the Twin Valley High School marching band. The band will also provide music for singers performing the American and Ukrainian national anthems. In addition, the Voloshky School of Ukrainian Dance will perform popular Ukrainian dances, and Dog's Dinner Band will perform oldies.

A Ukrainian and American bazaar will offer unique arts and crafts and baked goods. There will also be a chance for visitors to win gift baskets and gift certificates through a random drawing. Prizes will include a one-night hot tub suite at the historic Waynebrook Inn, a collection of Elvis memorabilia, wall decor, spa products, buckets of automotive products and homemade Ukrainian honey.

Proceeds from the prize drawing and the registration fees will be presented to the United Ukrainian American Relief Committee based in Philadelphia.

Food vendors will offer pizza, cheesesteaks, hamburgers, cheeseburgers, fries, pierogies and kielbasa, handmade ice cream, gourmet coffee, tea and desserts.

Admission is free for spectators to the car show, the bazaar, all entertainment and the Classic Auto Mall Museum, which has 400 original, unrestored classic cars, trucks and motorcycles from the early 1900s to the 1990s on display and more than 600 consignment cars for sale from all over the world.

The rain date for the car show and bazaar is Saturday, Sept. 24. For additional details, contact Pappas at johnny1957@ptd.net.
