Two Churches, Two Christmas Craft Bazaars

More than 60 vendors will sell artwork, glassware, recycled/repurposed items, knitted/crocheted/sewn goods, woodworks, handcrafted jewelry, seasonal and home decor, and more at the Christmas craft bazaars that will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 4. The vendors will be divided between Wesley Church, 1104 Kirkwood Pike, Quarryville, and Colerain Church, 1923 Noble Road, Kirkwood.

This will be Wesley Church's 11th annual bazaar. The second location at Colerian Church was added in 2018. "Last year we had a much smaller, scaled-down version of the bazaar," said bazaars coordinator Bonnie Aukamp. "It will be great to have folks back."

This year, Patrick Buckner, worship leader at Colerain Church, will participate in the bazaar at the Colerain bazaar as a vendor with Unashamed Ministries. Patrick's ministry began with his release of original evangelistic songs that included messages of hope and encouragement to be a bold, unashamed witness to the good news of Jesus Christ. When Patrick met his wife, Leanne Buckner, last year, Leanne relayed the idea to Patrick about combining the evangelistic music with community outreach. Since February of this year, they have made Valentine's Day cards for Quarryville Presbyterian Nursing Home residents, participated in "A Child's Life" toy drive for Lancaster General Hospital, collected and donated supplies for Water Street Mission, and given "bags of comfort" to cancer patients at Ephrata Hospital. Unashamed Ministries' current outreach project, "Bless A Neighbor," encourages people to purchase five different gift bags for others; and a percentage of the proceeds from this project will benefit Meals on Wheels. "Bless A Neighbor" gift bags will be available for purchase at the Colerain bazaar.

"The exact reason as to why we continue to do Unashamed Ministries is that we have a calling to be a light in a very darkened world and to meet needs all in the name of Jesus," stated Patrick. "Leanne and I are thrilled to find ways to be a support and some help to other organizations that notice a need and then does something." Breakfast and lunch will be available at both churches. Door prizes donated by the vendors will be given away throughout the day at the Wesley location, and various gift baskets will be awarded at the Colerain location. Donations of nonperishable food will be given to Solanco Neighborhood Ministries, and warm accessories such as mittens, gloves, hats, and scarves for children and adults will be collected and given to the Mitten Tree through the Quarryville Library.

"People should attend the bazaar because this is all about making memories and this is about showing support and living out what it means to be an encourager, and an uplifter in what may be the bleakest of times in someone's life," commented Patrick.
