TVHS To Stage "Through The Years: A Musical Revue"

Since 2006, Twin Valley High School (TVHS) has presented a spring musical ranging from "Anything Goes" in 2010 to "Footloose" in 2015 to "The Addams Family" in 2019. To celebrate the past performances, this year's spring musical at TVHS will be "Through the Years: A Musical Revue," a show that will feature musical numbers from every show performed at TVHS over the past 15 years. There will also be a sneak peek into next year's show.

"Through the Years: A Musical Revue" will be staged on Thursday, April 22, at 7 p.m.; Saturday, April 24, at 7 p.m.; and Sunday, April 25, at 2 p.m.

TVHS librarian Jessie Miller, show producer, noted that the students have adapted to COVID-19 restrictions while preparing for the production. "We followed social distance guidelines this year with rehearsals and staging this musical. The kids have been great sports and have really adapted to this crazy situation that we are in," she stated. "We started out the season knowing that we could only have 30 people in the audience each night. Luckily, the restrictions have been lifted, so know we are able to have about 200 each night with the audience members sitting 6 feet apart."

Musical numbers will include "Oh, What a Beautiful Mornin'" from "Oklahoma!" (2006); "Lullaby of Broadway" from "42nd Street" (2017); and "Once and for All" from "Newsies" (2020).

TVHS agriculture science teacher Nicole Weaver, show director, noted that TVHS' 2020 production of "Newsies" was recorded and presented virtually. "We are really looking forward to having the cast and crew perform in front of a live audience again," said Weaver. "They miss it so much, and they have really been deprived of a lot the past year - especially the seniors. We are so excited for them to have this opportunity to act and sing for an audience."

"What's really great about this year is that instead of having just a few lead roles, we were able to feature over 20 students in lead roles and solos," Miller added.

In addition to Weaver and Miller, the production staff includes stage director Adam Sanders, choral director Reid Simmons, prop/costume manager Andrea Lydon and light and sound technician Jimmy Kuhn. Becka Malanios is co-choreographer along with Weaver.
