Theater Posts "From York To New York"

The Belmont Theatre will offer a two-part virtual program titled "From York to New York." Act 1 will debut on Saturday, March 20, and Act 2 will debut on Tuesday, April 20. The videos will be available to view at http://www.thebelmont.org until Thursday, May 20.

This virtual showcase will feature area students who have performed at The Belmont, as well as theater professionals who started their theatrical journey in York.

York native Ken Ludwig will introduce Act 1. Ludwig was born in York and attended York Suburban High School. As a youth, he performed in a number of shows on what is now The Belmont's stage. He is now an award-winning playwright whose works have been performed on Broadway stages and beyond.

Over 10 more theater professionals ranging from actors and directors to costume, set and sound designers will share their inspirations and success stories. Those involved will include David Masenheimer, Austin Durant and Robert Spencer, along with Seth Erdley, a sophomore at Northeastern High School who was recently in the Broadway tour of "Finding Neverland."

Many area students who have performed at The Belmont were asked to contribute videos of themselves singing a song from a Broadway show. The videos take viewers to locations ranging from the students' backyards to cityscapes from New York and Boston.

This virtual showcase will be free to view. Donations will be accepted to help the theater prepare to safely open in the coming months.
