Ten To Vie For Manheim Central Homecoming Queen
Manheim Central High School will celebrate homecoming with a football game against Elizabethtown High School on Friday, Oct. 22, and a dance on Saturday, Oct. 23. Ten girls will vie for the title of homecoming queen, and the winner will be crowned at halftime during the game.
The candidates for homecoming queen are Hannah Adair, Miranda Baum, Habeba Bekhit, Grace Cassel, Evangeline Guttedar, Mattie Hartzler, Madison Kreider, Emma Moyer, Mayah Stoltzfus and Hannah Whitehouse.
Hannah is the daughter of Josh and Amy Adair of Manheim. She is a member of Student Council, is chair of Mini-THON and is a member of the Spanish, ski and snowboard and Interact clubs. She is a member of ALPHA, the National Math Honor Society and National Honor Society (NHS). She is also historian of the Spanish National Honor Society (SNHS). She is captain of the girls' soccer team, was recognized as a 2020 All-Section 2 First Team All-Star for soccer and was named to the 2020 L-L League Big 11 team. Outside of school, she is a member of Manheim Brethen in Christ (BIC) and attends youth group. She also trains girls in soccer and plays for PA Classics on the Girls Academy 04 team. After graduation, she plans to attend Messiah University to major in health and physical education and play soccer.
Miranda is the daughter of Laverne and Marci Baum of Manheim. She is the manager of the field hockey team. Outside of school, she is vice president of Saddle Cinches Horse 4-H Club and trains and shows her horse in 4-H and other local horse shows. She is also involved with her church youth group. After graduation, she plans to take a gap year and then attend school to become a certified cosmetologist.
Habeba is the daughter of Mohamed Bekhit and Rasha Hassan of Manheim. She is a member of the orchestra and is involved with the school musicals. She plays the violin. She plans to attend Millersville University to study early childhood education, with the goal of becoming a kindergarten teacher.
Grace is the daughter of Dave and Pam Cassel of Manheim. She is a member of Student Council, Mini-THON, Wednesday morning worship and spikeball club. She is also a member of the National Math Honor Society and NHS. She is team captain of the girls' soccer team. Outside of school, she plays club soccer and is active in the youth group at both LEFC, where she volunteers with children's ministry, and Manheim BIC. After graduation, she plans to attend college to study early childhood education and possibly special education.
Evangeline is the daughter of Paul Guttedar and Gladys Doddamani of Manheim. She is the co-founder and co-president of the inclusion and diversity club and is treasurer of the speech and debate and Spanish clubs. She is also a member of the Interact and science clubs. She is vice president of the National Social Studies Honor Society, secretary of NHS and a member of the National Math Honor Society and the National English Honor Society. Outside of school, she plays the violin. After graduation, she plans to attend college and major in information systems.
Mattie is the daughter of Kent and Stephanie Hartzler of Manheim. She is a member of the field hockey team, NHS and Interact club. Outside of school, she is a member of the Manheim BIC youth group and plays field hockey with the Alley Cats. After graduation, she plans to attend East Stroudsburg University to major in secondary education with a focus in history and to play field hockey.
Madison is the daughter of Robert and Christy Kreider of Manheim. She is the drum major of the marching band and performs with Baron Stage. She is a member of the National German Honor Society, National English Honor Society, International Thespian Society, Tri-M Music Honor Society, NHS and the National Art Honor Society. She is secretary of the inclusion and diversity club, co-president of Student Council, secretary of Rho Kappa Honor Society and a member of the German club. Outside of school, she dances with Cricket's Performing Arts. After graduation, she plans to attend college and eventually apply for the Disney College Program.
Emma is the daughter of Jason and Amy Moyer of Manheim. She is a member of Student Council, Interact club and Wednesday morning worship. She is president of the Spanish club and vice president of SNHS. She is a member of the National Math Honor Society and NHS. She is captain of the volleyball team and has been an L-L League Academic All Star. Outside of school, she plays club volleyball and is a member of Manheim BIC, where she is in the youth group, plays piano for the youth group worship team and is a small group leader for eighth-grade girls. After graduation, she plans to attend Messiah University to study mathematics with a focus in secondary education and a minor in Spanish.
Mayah is the daughter of Glenn Stoltzfus and Kendra Stoltzfus of Manheim. She plays field hockey and is a member of the German National Honor Society and the German, Interact and medical careers clubs. She is also a member of Baron Stage and has performed in the school musicals. Outside of school, she is active in her church, where she plays piano, is on the worship team and is a member of the youth group. She plans to take a gap year after graduation and then pursue mission work.
Hannah is the daughter of Jim Whitehouse and Kelly Whitehouse of Mount Joy. She is in the medical careers club and volunteers with LCBC outside of school. She plans to become a certified nursing assistant while still in high school and then become a registered nurse and work in a children's hospital.
