Talk to focus on Schuykill River Trail

The Historic Preservation Trust of Berks County will present its Third Saturday Summer Program on July 20 at 11 a.m. in the White Horse Inn, located at 31 Old Philadelphia Pike, Douglassville.

The program, titled "Get Out and Play: The Schuylkill River Trail in Berks County," will be presented by Tim Fenche, a member of Schuylkill River Greenways (SRG), who will discuss the significance that the Schuylkill River Trail plays in the region.

Visitors will learn about the history of SRG and its programs and projects. According to http://www.schuylkillriver.org, its mission is "to connect residents, visitors and communities to the Schuylkill River and the Schuylkill River Trail by serving as a catalyst for civic engagement and economic development in order to foster stewardship of the watershed and its heritage."

Fenche has been with SRG since 2006, serving in several roles and functions over the years. He has more 25 years of experience working in the nonprofit sector, and over the last 18 years with SRG, he has managed multiple grant programs and dozens of projects.

The next Third Saturday Summer Program will be held on Aug. 17, when a program about the Pennsylvania long rifle will be presented.
