"Survivor Voices" To Feature Spires

Adrienne Spires will speak on Monday, June 14, at 6:30 p.m. as part of "Survivor Voices," a virtual interview series held via Zoom and hosted by Safe Communities, a nonprofit organization that specializes in sexual abuse prevention and healing for survivors.

Spires will discuss her experiences as a survivor of domestic violence and the parent of a child who was abused. She will also explain the role faith has played in her own journey of healing. Spires is a California-based leader in the field of abuse prevention. She has 15 years of experience in the field of children's mental health and more than 20 years of nonprofit experience implementing racial, economic, and gender equity in preventing and addressing interpersonal violence and related crimes, domestic violence and sexual assault, and mental health. She has worked in the anti-gender-based violence field in California as a project coordinator for the last five years. She received a Master of Science in education administration from Eastern Illinois University.

Linda Crockett, director of Safe Communities and a survivor of abuse, will interview Spires as a friend, a colleague, and the author of an upcoming book on non-offending parents of abused children. Spires was instrumental in bringing Safe Communities' programs for congregations into California several years ago.

Interested persons must register at http://www.safecommunitiespa.org. Registrants will receive a Zoom link to the live event. A recording will be available after the event for a limited time to registrants only.

There is no cost to register for the event, but donations will be accepted to support Safe Communities' work.
