Supporting The Strasburg Fire Company

Firefighters have been saving American lives for more than three centuries. Although their techniques have changed throughout this time, firefighters are still saving thousands of lives each year. To respond to an emergency the best they possibly can, firefighters need special equipment, which is why the Strasburg Fire Company No. 1 will host its fifth annual golf tournament fundraiser.

The Strasburg Fire Company Golf Tournament will take place on Friday, Oct. 1, at Tanglewood Manor Golf Club, 653 Scotland Road, Quarryville. Play will begin with a shotgun start at 9 a.m. and will take a four-person scramble format.

Golf committee chairman Jim Kiscaden noted that proceeds from the event will go toward the capital equipment fund for the purchase of a new rescue-pumper.

"Golfing is a fun activity, and when people are out there playing, they will know they're supporting the fire department," stated Kiscaden. "The (firefighters) are out there 24/7, 365 days a year, (supporting the community)."

During the tournament, there will be individual skill contests and prizes for team winners. Preregistration, which is required, must be completed prior to Wednesday, Sept. 15. To preregister, visit https://bit.ly/3yu2g6V, email ljameskiscaden43@gmail.com, or call 717-468-0721. Registration will include the use of a golf cart, a chicken barbecue lunch, beverages, and snacks.
