Summer Sports, Art and Musical Fun

Whether your children are interested in trying a new sport, joining others in a band or choir or getting crafty with hands-on art, Mount Calvary Christian School has a camp for them.

The school will host summer camps beginning the week of Monday, June 8, running through the week of Monday, July 27. All camps will be held on the school grounds, 629 Holly St., Elizabethtown.

"Camps are open to everyone, not just Mount Calvary students," said Nick Mini, director of co-curricular activities. "We will have choir/band camp, soccer camp, volleyball camp, basketball camp, art camp and strength/agility camp - Go!/Strength Program."

Both coed basketball camp and coed soccer camp will be held for students entering grades three through six. Volleyball camp will be held for students entering grades six through eight. Middle school and high school Go! will be offered for students entering grades seven through 12. Middle school and high school strength training will be held for students entering grades seven through 12. Go! Jr. will be available for students entering grades four through six, and Fun & Games will be offered for students entering grades two through five.

"For each camp, campers can plan on learning the fundamentals of each individual sport in an uplifting setting," Mini said. "Go Jr., Fitness, Fun and Games and Strength Training will provide age-appropriate motor fitness and strength-building instruction."

Art camp is open for students entering grades four through nine.

"For our art camps, there will be a variety of projects for students encompassing the following art techniques: fused glass, mosaic glass, wood art, weaving and acrylic painting," Mini said.

Band camp and choir camp, both for students entering grades six through 12, will also be among the summer camp offerings.

"Our band and choir camps will be learning pieces of music to perform by the end of the week," Mini shared.

Camp instructors are Mount Calvary teachers and coaches, and the camps provide an opportunity for the private school to connect with the wider community while giving youths structure over the summer.

"Mount Calvary finds it important to host camps in efforts to keep our community strong over the summer and to encourage activity amongst our students," Mini said. "Come spend time with our coaches and our community to see what makes Mount Calvary a special place."
