Students Win 3D Design Competition

The Elizabethtown Bears earned first place in the grades three to five division of the Lincoln Intermediate Unit 12 Virtual 3D Design Competition, competing against seven teams from across the region. This year's competition challenged students to design and 3D print an original toy or game piece that included inclusive design features to make play easier and more enjoyable for everyone.

The winning team consisted of fourth-graders Sam Strickler, Jacob Martin, and Anderson Palicte, and third-grader Oliver Haldeman. They designed and developed a high-contrast block puzzle for people of all ages. The block puzzle with a tray features primarily black and white colors, along with large, easy-to-grasp block pieces with raised bumps to aid users with easier object recognition and manipulation. The team also made challenge cards that fit into its card holder on the tray to represent different puzzle challenges and solutions.
