Students participate in Signing Day ceremony

Four senior student-athletes at Conestoga Valley High School (CVHS) have committed to playing their respective sports at the collegiate level after graduation this spring. The student-athletes were recognized on May 11 at the school's Spring Signing Day ceremony.

The honorees were Rodney Bradford Jr., track and field; Hollyn Helsel, swimming; Connor Ludwig, swimming; and Victoria Rhoads, softball.

Rodney is the son of Rodney and Ursula Bradford. He was a two-year varsity athlete for the CVHS track and field team and was a part of the CVHS football team for two years as well, starting his senior year. He is an honor roll student and volunteers at the local food bank in his free time. He intends to major in sports management at Goldey-Beacom College.

Hollyn, daughter of Doug and Heather Helsel, is a four-year varsity member of the CVHS swim team. She was a league qualifier as a senior and was awarded Most Improved and the Coach's Award. She also played varsity softball for three years and field hockey for three years and was named captain of the softball and swim teams as a senior. Hollyn is a distinguished honor roll student at CVHS, president of Tri-M Music Honor Society, and a member of National Honor Society, Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA), Link Crew, and chamber orchestra. Throughout her high school career, she has won the Distinguished Honors Science Student Award, placed first in the Human Behavior category of the CV Science Fair, was the concertmaster of the orchestra, and was a District 7 Orchestra qualifier. Hollyn will study physical therapy at Lebanon Valley College.

Connor is the son of Steve and Jenn Ludwig. He was a four-year varsity starter for the CVHS swim team, a district qualifier, team captain, and a four-time league qualifier. He swims for the Five Star Swim Club. Connor plans to study sports media/communications at Shippensburg University.

Victoria is the daughter of Wendy and Matthew Rhoads. She is a two-year varsity starter for the CVHS softball team. She is an honor roll student and has earned two gold awards and two honorable mentions in the Lancaster County Young Artists Awards. She is also a member of the Stonerville Flames Softball organization. She is a part of the youth group, dance group, concert band, and Creative Hearts Club. Victoria will study veterinary nursing at Wilson College.
