Students of the Month Honored

Manheim Central High School has recognized its Students of the Month for May. The honorees are Gabe Deller and Lilie West.

Gabe, 18, is the son of Matthew and Karen Deller of Manheim. He has consistently earned a place on the high school honor roll, and he is an Attollo Scholar, a Rising Baron award recipient, and a two-year participant in the ACE Mentor Program. He serves as co-president of the school's Technology Student Association (TSA) and has earned top 10 and fourth-place finishes in transportation and manufacturing competitions at the state level over the past two years.

Gabe has played ice hockey for eight years and is currently a goaltender for the Palmyra Black Knights. He previously played for Manheim Central's team and competed as a thrower in track and field. Gabe previously participated in Motocross for Christ. After graduation, he plans to attend Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology to study architectural technology and pursue a career in the construction industry.

Lilie, 18, is the daughter of Derek and Laurie West of Manheim. Lilie participates in Baron Stage and color guard, and she is president of the Thespian Honor Society. She is also a member of the English Honor Society, German Honor Society, and Amnesty International. She has received various accolades, including the Music Excellence Award from John Brackbill and an award from the College Board for her achievement on Advanced Placement tests.

Outside of school, Lilie has been involved in theatrical productions such as Rodgers and Hammerstein's "Cinderella," as well as cabarets and vocal performances at retirement communities. Lilie plans to attend Lebanon Valley College to study secondary English education and minor in musical theater. She aspires to become a high school English teacher.
