Students Make Cards For Senior Citizens

Students from Rheems Elementary School recently sent cards with Masonic Village and Elizabethtown Healthcare and Rehab Center residents as part of a school-wide community service initiative. The project was part of the school's CUBS curriculum and was meant to help the students better understand how a simple act of kindness like sending good wishes through a card can impact the larger community.

In total, about 200 student-crafted cards were delivered to both facilities. The students also collected word search books, crossword books, coloring books for adults, and colored pencils to send to the recreation therapists to use with the residents.

CUBS stands for Children Understanding and Building Skills, and this curriculum is one of the special area classes that students in kindergarten through third grade have each week.
