Students hold hurricane relief fundraiser

This November, the Mount Calvary Christian School (MCCS) National Honor Society (NHS) raised funds for Asheville Christian Academy and Tri-County Christian School, which were both significantly impacted by the recent hurricanes.

NHS member Maggie Weigel has a personal connection to Asheville Christian Academy, as her mother and aunt attended the school and her grandmother was employed there. Growing up, Weigel heard stories about Asheville. She noted that the recent hurricanes destroyed the school, so classes were moved to a church.

Kindergarten through 12th-grade students at MCCS were invited to donate to the fundraiser and were given collection bins for their classrooms. Jason Becker spoke about generosity and stewardship in a chapel service, and senior Kaden Feucht helped coordinate and run a bake sale open to middle school and high students during their lunch periods. In addition, elementary students made cards. The amount raised exceeded the fundraiser's goal, with nearly $3,700 given by students at both campuses.

Mount Calvary Christian School is located in Elizabethtown and provides Christian education for students in preschool through 12th grade. The school offers busing options to and from the Lancaster and Harrisburg areas, including eight local school districts. For more information, visit http://www.mcchristianschool.com.
