Students Collect Soda Tabs For RMH

The 77 students registered in the Wrightsville Elementary School's Bible Adventure Released Time Program collected soda tabs again this year, amassing a record-breaking 264 pounds.

Tabs collected through the effort were taken to the Ronald McDonald House (RMH) in Hershey to be recycled for funds. These funds will be used to continue the RMH's mission of providing free lodging and meals to families whose children are being treated at the Penn State Hershey Children's Hospital. In addition to being in close proximity to the hospital, the RMH provides a playroom for siblings, as well as staff members to provide assistance.

As the Bible Adventure students collect the tabs year-round, they learn that their efforts help those in need. In May, they guess the total weight of the tabs, with the winner receiving a prize.

The Bible Adventure program is a state-approved nonprofit organization that is operated by Joy El Generation and is offered in many schools across the county. Students in third through 12th grades are allowed to leave their public-school classrooms for one hour each week to receive Bible instruction. The students learn worship songs and Bible stories and memorize Scripture.
