Strawberry Social Planned

Old Zion Church, 187 Reifsnyder Road, Brickerville (Lititz), invites the public to its 47th annual Strawberry Social on Saturday, June 14, from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m.

June 14 is also Flag Day, so the event will also celebrate the star-spangled banner, which was the United States flag at the time when the current Old Zion Church building was constructed in 1813.

Food will be served outside on the lawn overlooking the Brubaker Valley. The menu will consist of chicken corn soup along with local strawberries, attendees' choice of cake or ice cream, and whipped cream. Guests are encouraged to bring folding chairs and blankets for seating and trays for their food.

Cash and checks will be accepted for payment. All proceeds will support the maintenance and preservation of Old Zion Church, the cemetery, and church grounds.

During the social, visitors may take time to visit the cemetery, which dates before the Revolutionary War, or learn about the history of the church and church building from the Old Zion Church board members. Also on display will be the scale model of the church that was recently donated by the High family.

Visit http://www.oldzionchurch.org for more information or directions. The Strawberry Social will be held rain or shine.
