St. Mark's to present annual Fall Fest

St. Mark's Lutheran Church, which is celebrating its 150th anniverary this year, will present its annual Fall Festival on Saturday, Sept. 16, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. rain or shine. The event is free and open to the community.

Children's activities will include games, a barrel train ride, face painting and a moon bounce. Also offered will be a cake walk and bingo.

There will be a silent auction with theme baskets, artwork and vintage and antique items offered for bid. A children's-only auction will provide prizes of interest to children so that they can also participate.

Food offered for sale by the church will include homemade apple dumplings, french fries, funnel cake, fried Oreos, fresh-squeezed lemonade, popcorn, cotton candy and pulled pork sandwiches. Immaculate Conception Academy (ICA) will sell soft pretzels and Community Connections-Berks will present a sale of baked goods.

There will be at least 30 community groups that will have displays at the Fall Festival. Among the groups that will be represented are Safe Berks, ICA, Hope Rescue Mission, Boone Area Library and Birdsboro Christian Preschool.

Live music will be provided by the Happy Dutchmen German Band and East Side Dave and his band.

Hope Rescue Mission will on hand at the event to collect new or gently used clothing, shoes and bedding.

There will be an opportunity for attendees to win a handmade fall-and-Halloween-themed quilt. The church's 150th anniversary cookbooks and ornaments will be offered for sale.
