Spang, Ketchum Honored

Elizabethtown Area High School has recognized Ellia Spang and Jack Ketchum as the Rotary Club Students of the Month for February. This honor celebrates students who exemplify excellence in academics, leadership, service, and involvement within the school and greater community.

Ellia is the daughter of Daniel and Marjorie Spang of Elizabethtown. She is a member of the National Honor Society and is regularly listed on the honor roll. She serves as Student Council president and previously held the roles of historian and dance chair. She is also the secretary of Future Business Leaders of America, a leader in the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, a captain of the volleyball team, and a member of the track and field team. Ellia is involved in planning events intended to strengthen school culture, including food drives, school dances, teacher appreciation breakfasts, student breakfasts, and May Day activities. Outside of school, Ellia attends Newport Church, where she volunteers in the children's ministry as a Sunday school teacher and participates in weekly youth group activities. Following graduation, Ellia plans to attend Messiah University to study nursing and continue her volleyball career.

Jack is the son of Neil and Beth Ketchum of Elizabethtown. He is a member of the National Honor Society and is regularly listed on the honor roll. Jack serves as class secretary, president of the band, a co-founder and co-president of the debate club, and a member of the orchestra. Jack served as captain of the swim team during his junior and senior seasons, and he has been recognized as a USA Swimming Scholastic All-American and a National Interscholastic Swim Coaches Association All-American. After graduation, Jack plans to attend Brown University to pursue a degree in applied mathematics and economics as well as to compete on the men's swimming and diving team.
