Southern End Love For First Responders

Debbie and Ken Helm, owners of Britain Hill Venue & Vineyard, are working with the Quarryville Police Foundation to host a Southern End Love Community event that will benefit the first responders of southern Lancaster County. The event will take place on Saturday, May 8, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Britain Hill Venue & Vineyard, 790 Little Britain Road North, Quarryville. In the event of inclement weather, the occasion will take place at the same venue and time on Sunday, May 9.

At the event, there will be free admission, food, games, and giveaway drawings. Vendors, mainly local artisans, will be selling cupcakes, jewelry, and more. From 1 to 4 p.m., there will be live music provided by The Shucked Oysters. Attendees will be able to look at police cars, firetrucks, and other emergency vehicles. First responders will offer demonstrations and games as well. Micillicutty the police mini pony will also be in attendance.

Britain Hill will release its new semisweet red wine named Southern End Love. A portion of the proceeds from purchases of Southern End Love will benefit first responders. Wine slushies, wine, and beer will also be available for purchase.

"People should attend the event so they can meet their first responders in a relaxed atmosphere as opposed to meeting them in a moment of tragedy," said Trooper Kelly Osborne.

The Quarryville Police Foundation was created last year by Anthony Cavallaro. The foundation consists of a group of community members who fundraise for the Quarryville Police Department's training and equipment.

Proceeds will benefit the Quarryville Fire Company, Robert Fulton Fire Company, Wakefield EMS, the Quarryville Police Foundation, and the Pennsylvania State Police.
