Solve A Mystery With The PMHS Cast Of "Clue"

It was definitely Colonel Mustard with the revolver in the conservatory. Wait ... or was it Miss Scarlet with the rope in the library? Then again, it could have been Professor Plumb, Mrs. White, Mr. Green, or Mrs. Peacock. Many of us are well acquainted with the names of these characters. Those who aren't - and those who are - are invited to get a clue when Penn Manor presents its fall play.

For the first time since 2019, Penn Manor High School (PMHS) will open its doors to paid audience members for its fall play. This will be the first in-person production that the Penn Manor Theatre Group performs on stage in the school's brand-new auditorium. PMHS is in the second year of a three-year construction project, and the theater and music department was recently finished. This year's show is "Clue."

Based on the iconic 1985 Paramount movie, which was inspired by the classic Hasbro board game, "Clue" is a classic and hilarious whodunit. The story begins at a remote mansion, where Miss Scarlet, Professor Plum, Mrs. White, Mr. Green, Mrs. Peacock, and Colonel Mustard assemble for an unusual dinner party. When their host turns up dead, all six of them become suspects. With the butler Wadsworth as their leader, everyone teams up to find the killer while the body count continues to rise.

"We are having a lot of fun doing this," stated fall play assistant director Melissa Mintzer. "It's a spoof, it's a political satire, it's a comedy, and it's a murder mystery all reeled into one. The kids are having fun. They're doing a great job. We're just enjoying the process so far."

Fall play director Carole Shellenberger noted that although the movie had three endings, the PMHS production will only have one. "It's a very satisfactory ending, and it's funny," she added. "The whole thing is pretty silly."

The cast will feature Colin Rost as Wadworth, Emily Witmer as Yvette, Holly Wagner as Miss Scarlet, Hannah Fogell as Mrs. Peacock, Alaynis Velazquez as Mrs. White, Alex Eshelman as Colonel Mustard, Dylan Marchio as Professor Plum, and Max Ponton as Mr. Green. The rest of the cast includes Carley Weber, Grace Fafel, Josiah Keller, James Helm, Jaden Smith, Jordan Smith, Jack Cassidy, Sydney Hoar, Clara Howell, Maddie Stern, Stella Thomas-Wenger, Caroline Whitfield, and Amber Floyd.

Live performances of "Clue" will take place at PMHS, 100 E. Cottage Ave., Millersville, on Friday, Nov. 19, and Saturday, Nov. 20, with showtimes at 7:30 p.m. Masks will be required regardless of vaccination status. Every seat in the auditorium will be available for purchase. Tickets can be prepurchased at https://bit.ly/PMHSClue.

"We're happy to be able to have live theater despite everything else that's been challenging," said Mintzer. "The kids get to be kids again and get to have their moment to shine. That's why we do this. We do it for the students."
