Solanco teams receive Sportsmanship Awards

At their recent, respective Lancaster-Lebanon League end-of-the-year banquets, Solanco's girls' cross-country and boys' soccer teams, as voted on by the L-L coaches, both received the Sportsmanship Award.

The cross-country team went 4-3 this season and advanced to the District Three championships. This season marked the seventh time since 2005 the team received this award and the first time since 2016. The girls' team was the Sportsmanship Award recipient for five straight seasons - from 2012 to 2016 - under the leadership of former head coach Craig Ausel.

Members of the girls' cross-country team include Gracie Hartigan, Ally Singleton, Olha Huber, Mackenzie Landis, Christine Wagner, Lexi Groff, Izzy Brown, Anna Linde and Devon Culberson.

The soccer team finished its season at 3-14 and was 2-8 in Section Three. "It was a rough season at times, but receiving this award shows that we can still be civil people and do what is right," said head coach Remington Wright.

Brady Janssen was a First Team All-Star, and both Ayden Herr and Ryan Coble received Second Team recognition.

Other members of the team include Giovanni Piscitelli, Parker Martin, Hamilton Wright, Bennett Stoltzfus, Nick Wright, Trent Underwood, Christian Perez, Nathan Baglio, Clint Grawe, Berendan Mecouch, Nolan Huber, Sam Zook, Uriel Roblero, Noah Gorgo, Graydon Schlagnhaufer, Alex Kendig, Chase Mendez, Aidan Todd, Kiran Ludgate, Braedon Bickford, Josh Sinclair, Antinio Gonzales, Riley Todd, Aven Bontrager, Austin Nileski, Mike Trout and Varek Ludgate.
