Solanco Announces Graduation Speaker

Tyler McCardell, a 2013 graduate of Solanco High School, has been named guest speaker for the Solanco Class of 2026 graduation.

McCardell is an EMS physician and clinical assistant professor of emergency medicine for Penn Medicine Lancaster General Health. He provides countywide physician field response through the Penn-Med-1 program; coordinates prehospital education; and serves as the medical director for multiple EMS agencies, including Wakefield Ambulance and Pequea Valley Fire Department.

McCardell graduated from Solanco as class president and co-valedictorian in 2013 before earning dual bachelor degrees from Duquesne University and continuing his education at the Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University. He is residency-trained in emergency medicine at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh, where he served as chief resident and assistant medical director for AHN LifeFlight, followed by an EMS Fellowship at the University of Pennsylvania.

He resides in the Southern End with his wife, Megan; daughter, Callahan; and chocolate lab, Koda.
