Silvaggio Receives Spirit Award

Conestoga Valley High School (CVHS) senior field hockey player Bella Silvaggio was selected as the 2020 recipient of the Linda Shelley Spirit Award by the Lancaster-Lebanon (L-L) League. She was honored in a ceremony at CVHS on March 1. L-L League umpire Kathryn Grove was on hand to present Silvaggio with the award.

The Linda Shelley Spirit Award, named in honor of field hockey official Linda Shelley, who passed away in 2011, is given annually to the L-L League field hockey athlete who best exemplifies the character, spirit, and essence that Shelley demonstrated throughout her life.

Silvaggio was a four-year varsity starter for the Buckskins' field hockey team and served as team captain in her final two seasons. She was an L-L League Section I All-Star in 2019 and 2020 and also earned PSFHCA All-State recognition those same years. She has committed to play field hockey for Division I University of Vermont this coming fall.

Silvaggio is also a four-year member of CVHS' lacrosse team. She has been listed on the distinguished honor roll student, is a member of the National and Science Honor Societies, and has served as class secretary all four years of high school.

Shelley was a PIAA field hockey official for 30 years and was an NCAA field hockey official, as well. She held a National Level USA Field Hockey rating, the highest-level umpiring certification in the country.
