Senior pet adoption event posted

Humane Pennsylvania will offer fee-waived adoptions for senior shelter pets during the entire month of November at both the Lancaster Center for Animal Life-Saving, 2195 Lincoln Highway East, Lancaster, and the Freedom Center for Animal Life-Saving, 1801 N. 11th St., Reading. The centers are open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., with adoption hours from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

From now until Thursday, Nov. 30, dogs and cats that are over the age of 10 at the Berks and Lancaster County adoption centers will be free to safe, loving homes. Lancaster Plumbing, Heating, Cooling & Electrical will cover the cost of senior pet adoption fees. The event will be held in connection with National Adopt a Senior Pet Month, November, which reminds people to consider opening their home and heart to an older shelter pet in need.

Adopters wishing to provide a forever home for a senior shelter pet are encouraged to visit the shelter campuses or http://www.HumanePA.org. All potential adopters are required to go through Humane Pennsylvania's adoption screening process, and approval is not guaranteed.

Adoptions include Humane Pennsylvania's 30-day Adoption Health Supplement; spaying or neutering prior to adoption; vaccinations, including rabies vaccination, and de-worming medication; flea treatment; microchipping and chip registration; and a free, 1-pound bag of Science Diet pet food.

For more information, contact the Lancaster Center at 717-393-6551 or adoptlancaster@humanepa.org or the Freedom Center at 610-921-2348 or adoptreading@humanepa.org.
