Located in York, Senior Commons at Powder Mill was distinguished as Best Independent Living and was also recognized in previous years since the rating program first launched in 2022. 

For the U.S. News' ratings, communities in the United States are evaluated in one or more of the following categories: independent living, assisted living, memory care and continuing care retirement.

U.S. News analyzed survey data from more than 400,000 residents and their family members at more than 3,500 senior living communities nationwide. The survey asked about respondents' satisfaction with aspects of the community such as safety, caregiving, management, staff, food and dining and activities.
