Scouts Win Awards At Klondike

Terre Hill Boy Scout Troop 172 participated in the 2022 Susquehanna District Yukon Gold Rush Klondike event at Camp Mack, owned by BSA's Pennsylvania Dutch Council, over the weekend of Feb. 4 to 6. A total of 31 patrols from 20 area troops participated. Leading up to the weekend, Scouts prepared their gear and sled so they could work through 13 stations set up throughout the woods. At each station, Scouts were tested on skills and knowledge, such as fire building, first aid, knots, compass skills, and teamwork. Scouts could earn up to 20 points at each station, along with bonus points for camping out on Friday night.

Terre Hill sent one patrol, The Prospectors, to the event. The Prospectors won first place for its themed flag and its patrol spirit, as well as third place for its sled design.

Adult leaders who helped with the event were Jim Leonard, Dwayne Leonard, Wayne Koppey, John Hansen, Barney Fitzwater and Chad Herman.
