Scouts to collect food donations

The Scouts of Chester County Council invite community members to participate in the annual Scouting for Food drive, an initiative aimed at supporting local food banks and addressing hunger in Chester County and northwestern Cecil County, Md.

This year, Scouts will take to the streets during the weekend of Nov. 9 to deliver door hangers that inform residents about the food drive and encourage participation. The hangers will detail the types of nonperishable food items needed and highlight the importance of community support in combating food insecurity.

Scouts will return the following weekend to collect donations left on doorsteps. Residents are encouraged to contribute nonperishable items such as canned goods, pasta, rice, and other staple foods. Last year, the Scouts collected more than 30,000 pounds of food, and this year the Scouts aim to surpass that total. The collected food will be distributed to local food banks.

Monetary donations will also be accepted. For more information on the event and how to donate, visitĀ www.cccbsa.org and look under "2024 Events."
