Scouts To Collect Donations For Food Bank

Each year, the Boy Scouts, Cub Scouts and Girl Scouts of Mount Joy participate in the collection of food for people in need. During last year's Scouting for Food effort, the Scouts collected over 900 bags of food from the Mount Joy neighborhoods and delivered them to the Mount Joy Food Bank.

On Saturday, Nov. 12, more than 75 Scouts will begin placing plastic bags on the doors of every residence in Mount Joy asking for food donations. The Scouts will return on Saturday, Nov. 19, to collect the donations. Residents should place their donations outside the door of their home by 10 a.m.

Current food bank needs include canned fruits or vegetables, peanut butter, jelly, pasta, rice or rice mixes, cake or pancake mixes, powered milk, and cereal.
