Patrick Hainthaler and Ian Christ of Boy Scout Troop 84 in Neffsville have earned the rank of Eagle Scout, the highest rank attainable in the Boy Scouts of America.

To earn the Eagle Scout rank, Patrick and Ian fulfilled requirements in the areas of leadership, service, and outdoor skills. They were required to earn 21 merit badges, including 13 required Eagle badges; serve actively in a troop leadership position for at least six months; plan, develop, and carry out a comprehensive service project; and appear before a board of review to demonstrate that they had done their best to live up to the Scout Oath and Law.

Patrick's Eagle Scout project was walkway reconstruction at Landis Valley Village and Farm Museum in Lancaster. Patrick is a freshman at Penn State Berks, studying to earn a degree in food science.

Ian's Eagle Scout project involved paver pads at St. John Neumann Church in Lancaster. He is a member of the Class of 2025 at Manheim Township High School. He is interested in engineering and enjoys playing the trumpet.

The mission of the Boy Scouts of America, and Troop 84, is to prepare young people to make ethical choices over their lifetime by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Law. Boy Scout Troop 84 is sponsored by St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church.
