School to honor former principal

February is Love for Lavelle Month at Lancaster Catholic High School (LCHS). This designation celebrates former principal the Rev. Edward Lavelle.

Ordained in 1963, Lavelle was employed at Lancaster Catholic beginning in 1968. In his 45 years at the school, his roles included theology teacher, chaplain and assistant to the principal as well as principal. In retirement, he continues to serve the students of LCHS by co-celebrating Masses with the school chaplain, hearing confessions, and participating in school retreats and class discussions.

In honor of Lavelle's ongoing daily devotion to help form the souls, minds and hearts of the students as well as to advance the mission of Lancaster Catholic High School, the school has named its monthly giving program the Lavelle League. The program directly benefits the annual fund, which is the backbone of all philanthropic giving to the school. This fund provides the dollars needed to ensure the school's mission continues for generations to come.

During February, all new Lavelle League members who give a minimum set amount will receive a pair of socks honoring Lavelle.

To join the Lavelle League, visit http://www.lchsyes.org and look in the menu under Advancement or call 717-509-0315.
