School sets induction ceremony

Lancaster Catholic High School (LCHS) will host its 2025 Athletic Hall of Honor induction ceremony, celebrating the outstanding achievements of alumni athletes, on Sunday, March 23. The event will take place from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Bent Creek Country Club, 620 Bent Creek Drive, Lititz. It will be hosted by the school's entrepreneurship class.

This year, LCHS will induct Michelle Benko Goff, Class of 1997; Gordie Eck III, Class of 2000; and Zachary Shedleski, Class of 2004.

Goff excelled in both field hockey and soccer during her time at LCHS. She was a varsity letter winner for three years in field hockey and four years in soccer. As a senior co-captain, Goff played a key role in securing the field hockey team's first winning season in school history - with scores of 9-3-2 - earning First Team Lancaster-Lebanon (L-L) League All-Star honors and an invitation to the L-L League Field Hockey All-Star Game. On the soccer field, Goff led the team in scoring all four seasons and was named LCHS Offensive MVP three times. Under her leadership, the team reached the L-L League playoffs for the first time in school history in 1996. She was a three-time L-L League First Team Section All-Star and continued her athletic career on a field hockey scholarship at Indiana University of Pennsylvania.

Eck was a standout multi-sport athlete, earning eight varsity letters in football, basketball, and baseball. As a three-year starting quarterback, Eck led the Crusaders to the 1998 L-L League Section III Championship and a PIAA District III semifinal appearance. His senior year, the team reached the PIAA District III finals, and he earned L-L League Section All-Star honors as captain. In baseball, Eck started all four years at pitcher and first base, surpassing 100 career hits and batting over .500 in his junior and senior years. He set a school record for hits in a single season and was recognized as an L-L League Section III All-Star in his sophomore, junior, and senior years. He continued his baseball career at Franklin & Marshall College.

Shedleski made his mark on the basketball court as a four-year varsity letter winner and three-year starter. As a key player on the 2003 PIAA Boys State Basketball Championship team, Shedleski helped lead the Crusaders to an undefeated 35-0 season, extending their winning streak to 46 games into his senior year. He was the team's leading scorer in his final season, finishing his high school career with 1,298 points. He earned L-L League Section III All-Star and PIAA District III All-Star honors in both his junior and senior years, as well as First Team L-L League All-Star recognition as a senior. He continued his basketball career at Gettysburg College.

LCHS invites alumni, family members, friends, and supporters to join in celebrating the honorees at the induction ceremony. Tickets can be purchased by contacting Nate Leonard at nleonard@lchsyes.org or Lori Wagner at lwagner@lchsyes.org.
