School plans Veterans Day program

Donegal High School, 1025 Koser Road, Mount Joy, will host its annual Veterans Day program on Friday, Nov. 10. A 9 a.m. continental breakfast reception will precede the ceremony, which will begin promptly at 10 a.m. in the auditorium.

Following program tradition, students and guests will learn about the history of Veterans Day, listen to "In Flanders Fields" performed by the DHS chorus, pay tribute to Donegal High School alumni who are veterans, and witness a roll call of veterans in attendance.

This year's program will feature presentations from students who traveled to Europe this past summer on a World War II and Western Front educational tour. They will share their perspectives and reflections on why it is important to honor America's veterans. The student winner of the VFW's annual Voice of Democracy essay competition will deliver remarks addressing the theme of "What Are the Greatest Attributes of Our Democracy?"

The program will conclude with the playing of taps.

Area residents who are veterans, along with their spouses, may make reservations by contacting the school at 717-653-1871 by Wednesday, Nov. 8.
