Rotary Club Will Host Open House

With a motto of "Service Above Self," the Rotary Club of Eastern York County works to support community programs, projects and initiatives through the help of volunteers who are committed to community service. The club invites anyone who is interested in learning more about the group to come to an open house on Wednesday, Oct. 22, from 6 to 8 p.m. The open house will be held in the McGee Room of Burning Bridge Tavern, 108 Hellam St., Wrightsville.

"Many people are looking for ways to make a difference in their community. The Rotary Club of Eastern York County works directly with the community and Eastern High School to provide service and funding support," said Rotarian Joe Bachman. "Attending the open house is a great way to see how you can get involved."

Bachman noted that the open house will provide plenty of information for prospective club members, imparted in a nontraditional way.

"We will have a unique way of presenting facts and fictions about the club," he said. "Light refreshments will be served, and there will be a question-and-answer session at the end. Unlike traditional open houses that only provide information, this event is designed to be fun, engaging and even a little humorous. You'll have to come to experience it!"

The club held a similar event in March with much success, he said, and the group decided to continue reaching out to the community for prospective members.

"Growth brings strength. Since the last open house we nearly doubled in size, which allowed us to take on bigger projects with less stress on each member," he shared. "We hope this open house will keep that momentum going."

Rotary is a global network of more than 1.4 million people of action across 46,000-plus clubs, all committed to enhancing communities and improving lives, he explained.

"Locally, the Rotary Club of Eastern York County partners with Eastern High School and supports various community projects, events and service initiatives that directly benefit the people around us," Bachman stated.

He hopes anyone who is interested in learning more will come to the open house.

"If you have a passion for your community and are ready to put in the work, this club is for you," he remarked. "Our motto is 'Service Above Self,' and we live it out. In addition to fundraising, we actively serve, selling chicken fingers and fries at football games, sponsoring the girls' holiday basketball tournament and hosting a golf tournament every August."

Reservations for the open house are requested by Wednesday, Oct. 15. To make a reservation, call 717-413-0868 or 717-424-1136.
